The Topic:  China’s efforts to expand its power economically, militarily and politically, have raised questions about its geopolitical intentions and relative capacity versus the US.  Its growing military and economic ties throughout Asia and in Africa, as well as its activities in the South China Sea, have increased tensions with the US. What does the future hold for this important bilateral relationship?

About the Speaker: Dr. Tucker is the Director of ECU’s Asian Studies Program.  He teaches Chinese History and researches Chinese and Japanese intellectual history, as well as Asian cultures, philosophies and religions.
