https://ecunited.ecu.edu/cupola-conversations/The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to continue Cupola Conversations this academic year. Cupola Conversations is a program developed in Fall 2016 intended to create informal opportunities for the university community to engage in constructive dialogue about various topics.
Each Cupola Conversation features a panel of students, faculty, staff and community members who share opinions and thoughts about what they believe is needed to engage in better, more constructive, conversations about the topic.
The second installment of Cupola Conversations for Fall 2018 is entitled “Fair Isn't Equal” and will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in Mendenhall Student Center Room 244.
In light of events occurring on college campuses nationwide, such as the Silent Sam statue at UNC-Chapel Hill, as well as the recent mid-term elections and the national landscape surrounding hot button topics, the panel and those in attendance will engage in constructive dialogue about how “fair” and “equal” factor in conversations about race, gender, ethnicity, politics, bias, symbols, privilege and point of view.
Each Cupola Conversation features a panel of students, faculty, staff and community members who share opinions and thoughts about what they believe is needed to engage in better, more constructive, conversations about the topic. This program will be a town hall style format and features the following panelists:
*Don Donaldson, ECU Graduate Student / Grad Assistant in Student Affairs
*Lt. David Bowen, Greenville PD
*Shaun Simon, Associate Director LWCC
*Meredith Morgan, Program Specialist for Diversity and Inclusion Training, OED
*Dr. Eric Bailey, PhD, MPH, ECU Depts of Anthropology and Public Health
