About this Event
The College of Health and Human Performance will virtually host Arne Duncan as the speaker in the Sport Business Leadership Lecture on April 9 at 11 a.m.
Duncan is a former U.S. Secretary of Education with an accomplished and wide-ranging background in athletics, including as a first-team academic All-American while at Harvard and more recently he was co-chair of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics from January 2016 through December 2023. Since 2016, he has served as the Managing Partner of Chicago CRED, which works with community partners to serve about 500 of the young men most at risk of shooting or being shot. This is a major part of Duncan's goals and passions to curb gun violence and expand educational opportunities.
He was a co-captain on the basketball team at Harvard before playing professional basketball in Australia from 1987-1991. Duncan also was MVP of the 2014 NBA Celebrity All-Star basketball game and a member of the 3-on-3 national championship Hoop it Up team.
Dr. Mark Moore, associate professor of sport management, is the faculty organizer and contact for this event.
