http://ecu.edu/lgbtIn 1994, a play called The Vagina Monologues, written by playwright and activist Eve Ensler, broke ground, offering to the world a piece of art like nothing it had seen before. Based on dozens of interviews Ensler conducted with women, the play was hailed as funny, outrageous, angry, and moving. It addressed women's sexuality and the social stigma surrounding sexual violence and abuse, creating a new conversation about and with women. It is produced annually on college campuses to raise awareness and as part of a global campaign to end violence against women and girls. This year’s production takes place on Tuesday, February 28 at 7 pm in Wright Auditorium. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit the Center for Family Violence Prevention.
