Intro to Adventure Fitness for F/S and Non-Members

Get active with Campus Recreation & Wellness during an all new Adventure Fitness program where you will have all the benefits of fitness and physical activity, while also developing skills in climbing, canoeing, SUP, kayaking, and backpacking. Reach your fitness goals as you revitalize your senses and breathe in the fresh air and energy of North Carolina. Upon completion of this five week course, you will be given a 10% discount on a CRW Adventure Trip of your choice for the spring semester. Please note: Refunds are only given up to 3 business days prior to the start of the class. The only exception to this policy is in the event of a medical emergency and documentation from your physician is required indicating the reasons you can no longer participate in this physical activity.

 

Week 1: Climbing - 700 Calorie Burn per Hour

Week 2: Canoeing - 450 Calorie Burn per Hour

  • 9/12; SRC Pool
  • 9/14; Tar River

Health Benefits: increased cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength, reduced risk of wear-and-tear on joints and tissues. 

Week 3: Stand-Up Paddle Boarding - 650 Calorie Burn per Hour

  • 9/19; NRC
  • 9/21; SRC Pool (with Yoga)

Health Benefits: increased focus and balance, reduced stress, increased muscle strength, increased muscle endurance, increased cardiovascular fitness, reduced risk of wear-and-tear on joints and tissues.

Week 4: Kayaking - 450 Calorie Burn per Hour

  • 9/26; SRC Pool
  • 9/28; Tar River

Health Benefits: increased cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength, reduced risk of wear-and-tear on joints and tissues

Week 5: Backpacking and Ruck Fitness - 650 Calorie Burn per Hour

  • 10/3; SRC Adventure Center
  • 10/5; Greenville Greenway

Health Benefits: increased cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle endurance, reduced back pain.
