About this Event
Free EventThe city of New Bern, North Carolina was settled in 1710 by Swiss and Palatine immigrants led by Christoph von Graffenreid. It is the second oldest colonial town in the state. New Bern is home to Tryon Palace, North Carolina’s first permanent state capitol. We will be touring the Governor’s Palace and the Kitchen Office where we will witness 18th century cooking techniques. Also, we will take a tour through a historic home. The palace gardens are available to explore as well.
Our group will eat a delicious lunch at Morgan’s Tavern and Grill located in downtown New Bern. Then, we will take part in Bear Hands Art Factory painting party. The Factory is an arts center that provides the community with intriguing new exhibits. Also, it hosts exciting programs for all ages and skills to be involved in creating artistic work. The painting party is a group activity that allows us to create our own rendition of Van Gogh’s Starry Night with the help of instructors. Students will be able to explore their creative processes and receive valuable artistic tips for later creative endeavors they may pursue.
