As the host of the Sunday morning syndicated political show, Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, O'Brien tells the stories of people, giving voice to the underserved and disenfranchised. She discusses events of the day and brings a fresh perspective on diverse and contemporary issues to foster change in communities and organizations. As an entrepreneur and prominent philanthropist, O'Brien founded PowHERful, a foundation that mentors and funds college tuition and expenses for young women.
ECU students may request a free evening event ticket (does not include receptions). To receive a free ticket, ECU students must go to the ECU Central Ticket Office, located in the Main Campus Student Center, and present his or her ECU 1 Card.

Here’s some thoughts that I took away from Soledad’s Q and A session:
Re: Social anxiety- Do what makes you happy! Stop comparing your reality to others’ virtual reality!
Re: Navigating through life and trying to succeed as a minority and as a woman-
“Know the data”.. Don’t let the data intimidate you. Even if the odds are against you...”DO IT ANYWAY”
Re: Being a journalist- Let people tell their own story! Don’t hijack someone else’s truth. It sounds much better coming from the source!
I was inspired by her words and amazed at how humble she is. Just a girl telling her own story!! Loved every moment of it❤️
