The Waning of Pax Ameirca

The Topic:  A Pax occurs when an entity arises in the aftermath of a major war to guide international economic, political and cultural development.  Recent changes in the international system have some questioning whether the era of Pax Americana is at an end. Does the US still have the capacity and will to serve in a position of international leadership?  What would the end of this Pax mean for US foreign and military policies?

About the Speaker:  Dr. Cook researches policy-making for complex security issues such as pandemic disease, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.  Her recent work has focused on the factors that influence levels of violence in civil wars and governments’ efforts to defend against WMD.
