About this Event
Join us for an upcoming webinar on PFAS with Dr. Jamie DeWitt, Director, Pacific Northwest Center for Translational Environmental Health Research and Professor, Environmental and Molecular Toxicology, Oregon State University.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic chemicals used in many industrial applications and consumer products as they have chemical-physical properties that make them useful as starting materials, surfactants, surface protectants, and more. However, some of the chemical-physical properties that make them useful in processes and products are properties that lead to their environmental persistence and mobility, bioaccumulation potential, and toxicity. This presentation will overview these PFAS characteristics of concern and highlight an approach known as the essential use concept that can guide decision making about whether or not to use PFAS or to purchase products containing PFAS.
