This graphic design campaign, created by MFA student in Graphic Design Emily Hall, seeks to highlight an issue of social justice in our community. From the peace symbol to the raised fist to protest posters and beyond, graphic design has a rich history of activism and driving cultural change. This project intends to educate viewers about the detrimental impact of industrial hog operations in our region. Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations negatively impact air, water, and soil quality while also adversely affecting the physical and mental health of those who live nearby. These operations are disproportionately located in low-wealth communities and communities of color. It’s an issue of environmental justice.
