Qualitative methods allow researchers to advance theory and practice across disciplines through the examination of individuals lived experiences and social realities. This workshop will (1) introduce the epistemological and ontological assumptions of qualitative research, (2) discuss the process of developing research questions in qualitative research, and (3) consider how a qualitative research project could be designed to answer the research questions developed. Varying approaches to qualitative data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, participant observation, document analysis) will be discussed briefly. Workshop conducted by Dr. Drew Ashby-King.
