About this Event
Join us for the talk “Factory Dynamics: Designing and Analyzing Production Systems,” hosted by ECU’s Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Engineering, This session explores essential tools and methodologies used to design, analyze, and improve modern production systems across manufacturing and service industries.
The presentation examines key topics such as production strategy, aggregate planning, inventory management, forecasting, scheduling, and production control. It also highlights how lean manufacturing principles support one-piece flow and balanced production lines, helping organizations maximize productivity while minimizing material usage and operating costs.
Our guest speaker, Dr. Jinkun Lee, Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at East Carolina University, will share insights drawn from his academic research and industry experience in the automotive and aerospace sectors. The talk will feature practical examples including material requirements planning (MRP), bottleneck analysis, and the impact of variability on work-in-process (WIP).
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of factory dynamics and learn how data-driven and lean approaches can be applied to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance in complex production systems.
