The Inaugural Cathy Thomas Public Health Speaker Series is planned for April 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Harvey Hall of the ECU Murphy Center. An RSVP is appreciated for planning purposes, but not required to attend.

"This is Public Health" student photovoice projects will be on display for a gallery walk and participants are invited to enjoy light refreshments from 11-11:45 a.m., with Amy Belflower Thomas' remarks scheduled to begin at noon. Thomas is the senior director for research and evaluation at the Public Health Accreditation Board.

She serves as a public health evaluator and dedicated leader in public health systems and infrastructure. Her passion is for increasing the capability of governmental public health to create strong partnerships, positive outcomes and, ultimately, healthier communities. She also is immediate past president of the NC Public Health Association and an adjunct assistant professor in the Public Health Leadership and Practice Department at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
