At the heart of main campus is the Mall, a large grassy, tree-laden area where many students relax and study. A replica of the cupola on the original Austin building sits in the middle of the Mall. 

The Mall is home to "Barefoot on the Mall," an annual event that features a concert and is one of ECU's oldest traditions, as well as involvement and organization fairs and other events.
